Little Red Schoolhouse
The Museum is also an educational institution designed to help teach visitors about the history and culture of the area with the use of three-dimensional artifacts, archives, photographs and audiovisual media. In order to carry out that purpose, the Museum provides a number of educational programs. A variety of educational opportunies are available in many different settings on museum grounds. Programs may be conducted inside the Museum, at the 700 Ranch House or in Neustadt Park. Groups of all ages will find something to enhance their educational experience.
Educational Programs
Kid’s Craft
The museum holds its popular Kid’s Craft activity one Saturday each month from January through May. Children get to make a variety of different crafts depending on the theme which changes each month.

Santa’s House on the Prairie
Begin your journey with a scavenger hunt in the Holiday Forest. Learn the story about how the trees became decorated. Use your imagination to bring the Santa’s elves to life, which were formerly housed in the window of Daube’s department store.

What better way to discover all that the Museum has to offer than by searching through the Museum on your own. Scavenger hunts are always fun to have and learn about history!

Outreach Education
Bring the Museum’s exhibitions and collections to your students with activities designed for the classroom. Options will vary but may include:

Visiting the Museum
Tours
Museum tours can be guided or self-guided depending upon your preference. Tours can be for all or part of the museum and can be tailored to specific age groups. The typical tour is about 45 minutes, but tours can be tailored to the interests and needs of your group. Admission to the museum is free.
Teacher Workshops
Discover how you can use museum resources and methods to bring new excitement into your classroom. The Museum offers workshops to teachers on all the Educational Programs offered. Please contact the Museum at 580.226.3857 to set up a teacher workshop. All workshops are free.
Scheduling a Trip
Groups are encouraged to make reservations for tours and programs well in advance to ensure availability on the desired date. If you would like to bring a group to the Museum, please contact Stephanie at 580.226.3857. Neustadt Park is available for those wishing to bring lunches.
Please give at least one week advance notice of all groups.
